5000 Question Survey

One of my goals is to complete the 5000 Question Survey. I love filling out these random surveys, so I look forward to doing this one.

I've decided that I am going to use this page to record some of my answers. Don't worry I won't post all 5000 of them! I will pick a few from each part of the survey to share. Maybe it will help people get to know me a little bit better. :)

Part One

2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you? I have social anxiety disorder, I love to create things even though I don't always have the motivation to, and I love my dogs more than anything!

19. What did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to work with animals. When I was a lot younger I wanted to be a veterinarian, but as I got older (and until I was about 15) I wanted to be zoologist.

28. If you could learn how to do three things just by wishing and not by working what would they be?

A Be the perfect mother and housewife. I guess that is two in itself. If I was able to have a clean house, be a great cook, never have a hair out of place, and have perfectly behaved kids without having to go through all the trial and error, learning what works, and figuring out how to make it all work together at the same time without going crazy, I think that would be pretty great.

B Learn to sew. Poof and I could make beautiful clothes and things without having to take the time to learn all of the basics first.

C Surfing is another one that is coming to me. I'm sure if I really though I could think of something more substantial, but it's popping out in my head so I'm going to use it. When I was younger I really wanted to learn how to surf. If I could learn without having to work for it, that would be cool.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship? Acceptance and tolerance. Honestly, if I couldn't accept the quirks of those I love, I wouldn't be able to love them. Sometimes it is really hard just to let it go and not get annoyed with their quirks, but you have to acknowledge that it annoys you and then just move on or else everything would bug you and you would always fight. Also, I think you have to really be able to work together. If you can't work well with someone how are you going to make a relationship last? And effort. Relationships are a constant effort. You have to work for them or they simple dwindle and fall apart. People look for that perfect relationship but if they aren't willing to work for it it will never be perfect, it will only be average. Of course, you have to have affection for the other person. Relationships are difficult if you don't have any affection for your partner.

33. Is there a cause you believe in more than any other cause? Saving our planet. Honestly, it is the only home we have and people disregard it and forget about too quickly. I will even admit I am bad for it. But our home is a limited resource and we need to start taking care of it now, before it really is too late.

46. If you could meet any person in the world who is dead who would you want it to be? Steve Irwin. He was my hero and idol for so long and when he died I was devastated. One of my biggest dreams was to be a zoologist and go to Australia to work with him and his team.

56. How do you feel when you see a rainbow? Excited. It doesn't matter how many times in your life you have seen a rainbow, you still get a little bit excited when you see one. And they make you feel happy, too. I don't know about other people, but I feel a little bit happier inside when I see a rainbow.

78. Would you consider yourself to be romantic? I think I would like to be but I'm not really sure how to be or how to react when someone else is romantic to me.

84. What do you think makes someone a hero? Courage and bravery. Doing something above and beyond what is expected of them for a purely selfless reason.

95. If you could pick one food that you could eat all you wanted but it would have no effect on how much you weigh, what food would it be? PASTA! Oh my god, that would be amazing.

Part Two

102. List five people you love starting with the one you love the absolute most. These are in no particular order as I feel it is unfair to rate love

A My mom. She has been my best friend and the most stable and reliable person in my life. I don't know what I would ever do without her.

B My Husband. Erik McFarlane. He drives me crazy but I just can't help but love him completely.

C My son. Although he hasn't even been born yet, he has captured my heart. I want to give him the world

D My dad. Another amazing person in my life. My dad blows my mind all the time. He is the most disciplined, respectful, and sincere man that I know. He's taught me so much in life.

E My brother. He's just crazy smart. I don't know how he does it, but he is just awesome. So proud of him. We've always gotten along really well and he is the best sibling a girl could ask for.

109. What do you think of cloning? I'm not sure. I honestly haven't thought too much on it. I think that it isn't what people think. Cloning will not bring back someone who has been lost. A clone does not have the same memories or experiences and therefore is not the same person, but it's own being. It's a very controversial subject. I do know that right now it has not been perfected and there are many problems and such with the clone health-wise. They are more susceptible to disease, age more quickly, and die earlier. I think it would be almost cruel to create a living being knowing that this was what they had in store.

120. Is there anyone you trust completely? My parents.

124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about on your own? Nature and biology. As I said before, when I was in school I retook Biology because I had the extra time slot and I liked it. Health and fitness. I read a lot about healthy living and such. However, as much as I read about it, I don't actually follow through with a whole lot.

131. Can you finish any of the following lyrics? Haha, no.
A: Nothing to kill or die for...

B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher...

C: I could make a film and make you my star...

154. What is the happiest way you can start your day? Waking up to sunshine and a soothing breeze and the sound of birds chirping. Heaven. Either that or waking up early and watching a really amazing sunrise. Then eating a really yummy breakfast with lots of fruit and probably a giant, gooey Cinnamon Bun!

169. What's the coolest job you ever had? I have only ever had two jobs in my life. Baby sitting and teaching dance. Teaching dance has by far been the better of the two. However, if I could pick a really cool job to have, it would be photography, I think. If only I was good at photography.

172. If you had the power to control one person and make this person do anything you wanted for a whole day, who would you pick and what would they do? Oh, my husband, definitely. I would make him do all of the stuff he usually complains about and that I usually have to nag him to do and, of course, I would make him take me shopping and allow me to buy whatever I wanted.

176. Does fear of death keep you from building a life? Oh yes! Very much! I have given up so much and passed up so many amazing opportunities because of my anxieties and many of them have centred around a fear of harm or death.

181. What are your greatest sources for wisdom? Is it pathetic if I say Pinterest? Because honestly they have some really good quotes on there. A lot of them are just silly and funny, but some of them just make a whole lot of sense if you think about it.

182. When you were little, where did your parents tell you babies come from? I don't remember ever asking this question and I don't remember what they told me if I ever did. I do remember the first time I found out what sex was, though, and I remember that I was completely grossed out by it. I know that when I have to explain the whole baby thing to my little one, I hope that I can do it as accurately and scientifically as possible while still keeping it age appropriate and in terms a child can understand.

191. When you see a stranger on the street does your first reaction lean towards thinking of this person as a potential friend or as a potential threat? Potential threat. I always avoid eye contact and try to stay as far to my side of the side walk as possible. It's just my natural instinct. I won't lie, especially if I am walking by myself, in a sketchy or remote area, or later in the day, I kind of panic every time I pass someone and my first thought is always rapist/murder. I can't help it.

Part Three

201. Put these creatures in order from what you would least like to be reincarnated as (1), to what you would most like to be reincarnated as (10) assuming reincarnation ended up existing AND you were given a choice.

Female human – I would definitely prefer most to come back as what I already am.

Dolphin – they are such amazing, social, intelligent creatures, I would be honoured to come back as one.

Male Human – not my favourite choice, but hey, why not?

House dog – as long as I was with a loving, responsible family

Wild dog

Oak tree

Caterpillar – so that I could become a beautiful butterfly (assuming I do not get eaten or trampled on before that can happen...)

Manta Ray

Vulture
202. What do you feel unworthy of? I sometimes feel unworthy of any kind of praise or compliments I get. I do not know if it is because I do not feel that I deserve it, or what, but praise and compliments make me feel incredibly uncomfortable and I never know how to respond. You can only say thank you so many times.

216. What's your favorite video game? The Pokemon or Zelda games. They are pretty much the only video games I will play. Oh, or the Mario games.

218. What is one phrase people say that irritates you? ”Welcome to the military” That pisses me off so much every time someone says it to me. They make it seem like I am completely naive and ignorant and don't know anything, it's going to be so hard and I am going to whine and complain and basically they are telling me to suck it up, you got yourself in to this mess. Well, I would just like to say that I was raised within the military lifestyle. I grew up with all of this. I'm pretty used to it by now. Besides all of that, I have an amazing role model in my mother.

243. Would you rather have fame, money, or self-satisfaction? Self-satisfaction, I think. Fame is just a very hectic lifestyle. Money would be nice, of course, but it's not everything and could get kind of overwhelming. Self-satisfaction is what I'm looking for.

256. Can you eat with chopsticks? Yes, I can :) Actually when I was in grade 8 or 9 I ate everything with chopsticks! They were my utensil of choice.

261. If an art project is created with the intent of getting rich and famous, does that cast doubt over its significance as a work of art? Hmm... I really wouldn't know. I'm a little bit conflicted on my answer for this one. I think that art is art and if it touches you a certain way, or whatever then it is still art. However, I think knowing the piece was created with the intent behind it would take something away from it.

271. Which is more romantic: an expensive, glittering bouquet OR flowers that were hand picked as they grew beside the parkway? Hmm. I think both have their place as long as some kind of thought and intention was there and it wasn't just a last minute, crap, it's Valentine's Day and I don't have any flowers. Oh, here are some right here in the driveway or, well there's a flower shop now.

280. What is your worst daily habit? My worst daily habit is being a lazy bum and staying in bed all day. I don't work during the day so my days are usually spent in bed, in my pajamas, and on the computer. I'm very unproductive. I would like to start getting dressed in the morning and leaving the bed for bedtime only, actually do stuff other than Facebook and Pinterest.

290. Are you ever afraid to write/say/think how you feel? Yes. I often am. I am always aware of how people might take something I write. So even on things like my blog and Facebook, even in my private diaries and such, I am very cautious of what I write. I don't want to offend anyone or say something I'm not supposed to.

Part Five

401. Some say that high school is the best time of your life. Was that true for you? I wouldn't say so, no. I think that high school was actually the most trying time for me. There was a lot going on in my life. I think I was figuring out a lot of things. I think where I am right now is the best time of my life so far.

409. Are cats or dogs smarter? I'm not even going to attempt to answer this. There is a good quote, something along the lines of a fish being stupid as long as it is judged on it's ability to climb a tree, or some such thing like that. I don't know the full quote, but the gist of it is that everyone is good at something and if you judge them for only one thing, you aren't really seeing the whole picture or how great they really are.

415. If your man or woman served you breakfast in bed as a treat what would you want? Ooooh, you better be reading this Erik! I would definitely want french toast. Stuffed french toast, with chocolate and berries. And syrup, of course. Yum!

430. Do you care about your weight? Oh gosh, yes. I can say that I have been slightly obsessive about my weight since I hit high school. It has been a constant weight loss battle. It's not that I necessarily need to lose weight. I am a technically a healthy weight (though slightly high for my height). Now that I am pregnant I feel like I am even more obsessed. I don't want to gain too much, but at the same time I don't want to gain too little. I weigh myself twice every day. I hope to gain no more than a total of 20 pounds this pregnancy. After the baby is born, I really want to lose the weight quickly (but healthily) and start working towards my goal weight again, which is 125 pounds.

455. Are you a good cook? I'm learning and hopefully improving. I can do okay as long as I have a recipe to go from.

477. Would you rather have a trunk full of nickels or half a trunk full of dimes? Half a trunk full of dimes. Dimes are smaller in size and worth more, you could fit more dimes in half a trunk than nickels, so you would probably end up with a larger amount in money than with a full trunk of nickels.

500. There are 86401 seconds in day. My calculations come to 86400.

Part Six

502. What is your Glam Rock name (the name of your first pet plus your street name)? Duchess Labine

512. What (not who) do you care about? I care about the environment and nature. I care about the health of myself and those around me. I care about education, especially reading and literacy. I care about a lot of things.

520. How can you make tomorrow better than today was? Well, I could actually get some work done. I always feel so much better, satisfied and more accomplished when I have something with my time. I should definitely do some housework, work on a craft or project, maybe take the dogs for a walk. I can eat healthier. I actually ate pretty healthy today. I could still do better, though. I can do something nice for someone else.

528. If you were going to write a bedtime story for someone you loved what would it be about? When I was little I used to do bedtime prayers. I would ask god to bless my family, my friends, and sometimes it got out of hand so that I blessed every little creature and plant and person I could think of. I think that the concept would make a cute little story for a child. I would try to make it non denominational, but keep the same gist. (So basically Goodnight Moon...)

547. What or who do you support? As in organizations and causes? I support those who try to promote and educate on the environment and what we can do to protect it and the living things we share it with. In general, I support those who go about fighting for these things in a positive and educational way. I dislike and do not support those who protest or go about fighting in a violent way. That does no good whatsoever.
566. What really inspires you? Passionate people inspire me. People who obviously love, enthusiastic about and are knowledgeable about something and who really want to share that with other people. They just love what they do so much that it makes me want to love it to, to have a little piece of what they have.

580. Have you ever taken long solitary night walks? Walking at night makes me paranoid.
